Missing Nine (미씽나인): Eps 1-4 {First Impressions}

I honestly thought this drama was going to be a serious one, since you know, it’s about a crashed plane and the mystery surrounding the survivors on a deserted island. But it’s actually quite silly whenever the scene has Jung Kyung Ho’s character Seo Joon Oh. He’s so spoiled and bratty it’s funny and aggravating at the same time lol. At first I wanted to hit him and knock some sense into him but his character grows quite fast during their time on the island in the first couple of episodes so I was surprised.

I really like Ra Bong Hee. I love when the female lead isn’t some weakling princess-in-distress that sits around and cries until the male lead saves her. Her character is much more subdued and quiet after she returns to civilization as the lone survivor of the crash. But in flashbacks back on the island, she’s basically the only one that’s keeping everyone alive. Her survival skills are A+. I love that the male lead is the useless one lol

The drama starts off with Ra Bong Hee finding herself washed ashore in China and then brought back to South Korea. It’s been four months and she’s the only survivor to return from that crash. Because it was a plane full of celebrities, there’s a lot of media attention on it and everyone wants to get to the bottom of this incident. Unfortunately, Bong Hee lost all memories of the past four months.

The chief investigator of this case – Jo Hee Kyung – is this cold, unfeeling woman that straight up says to Bong Hee’s face that her return just gave them a shit load of work to do. Hee Kyung assigns an investigator to work with Bong Hee to help her regain her memories not to find potential survivors but to have a story for the public so that they’ll shut up about it and move on. I didn’t like Investigator Oh at first too because really, who the fuck tells a survivor in this situation that her return is making their lives a little bit more difficult. But he is compassionate towards Bong Hee and tries to help her.

I like the back and forth between the present and when they were on the island. It’s a little slow at first but as the plot progresses, we get to see more of what exactly happened on that island as Bong Hee regains her memories.

With what’s been revealed so far, I have a feeling this isn’t going to be a happy ending where everyone is alive and well and just waiting to be rescued. It’s kind of obvious what happened to the rest of them though I am curious as to the process that lead up to it. Four episodes in and I’m already prepared for the worst lol.
