After the deaths of his first and second wife, cosmetic mogul Cheuk Gwan Lam tries to turn over a new leaf. As fate would have it, he encounters a resourceful young man known as Ringo Poon, through whom he sees a younger version of himself. Cheuk Gwan Lam develops a familial attachment towards Ringo. The young man also wins the favor of Cheuk’s secretary Rachel Chan, who believes that Ringo would lead the company, Endless Beauty, to success. Rachel, still mourning over the disappearance of her husband Vincent many years ago, drowns herself with work. Endless Beauty, as well as Cheuk Gwan Lam himself, becomes her sole purpose in life. Ringo exploits the trust Rachel has in him, also winning Cheuk Gwan Lam’s approval. Little do they know that Ringo is actually secretly conspiring with a team of talented people on the sly to steal trade secrets from large corporations for money. Ringo has been planning this for years, seeking the best opportunity to take destructive revenge on Endless Beauty.
Cheuk Gwan Lam is having a flashback of when he was returning to the hotel room and seeing his wife and son seated by the door while the police searched his suitcases and found packets of cocaine. His son turns towards him (where he’s hiding around the corner) crying and asking his father to save them.
He jerks awake from his dream, breathless.
The next morning, Cheuk Gwan Lam gets accosted by a reporter from a magazine. She wants to get an interview with him. At first Cheuk Gwan Lam refuses but she eventually manages to talk him into it. He agrees and has her go contact his secretary again.
The people in Team A are just chilling at their desk, not really doing work until one of them gets a phone call that Mani is back and is coming up to the office. Team A goes into a panic frenzy.
Mani arrives at the office and gives her team some souvenirs from her trip to France. They’re really touched by her gesture. Until she tells them she wants a report about the products after they’ve tested them. The atmosphere around Team A immediately deflates.
Rachel meets with Cheuk Gwan Lam on the roof. He asks if they were able to find anything on the IT hire Irene. Rachel responds negative. All the info they received on her was fake. Cheuk Gwan Lam then shares with Rachel his thoughts of there being a mole in their company. He tells Rachel to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious.
She returns to her desk and starts suspecting everyone there.
Laura and Mr. Hong run into Ringo at the entrance of the apartment complex. Mr. Hong notes that Ringo’s water bottle has no more water so Laura offers to go buy all of them something to drink. After she leaves, Mr. Hong tells Ringo he wants to try riding the bike. Ringo tells him he’s too small and can’t. Mr. Hong settles with watching Ringo ride the bike instead.
After Ringo does a few laps around the park, Mr. Hong gets super excited and starts chasing after him and causes the two of them to get into an accident.
That night when Rachel comes back, she finds Mr. Hong hiding under his covers in bed. She asks him what’s wrong and freaks out when she sees bandaids on his forehead and arm. He makes her promise not to get mad before telling her what happened.
Livid, Rachel goes and is practically trying to knock down Ringo’s door. She yells at him for endangering her son and doesn’t care that the other’s injuries are more serious. She continues to tell him that he’s not allowed to ride his bike in front of Mr. Hong anymore. Ringo is in disbelief. He tells her she’s being way too overprotective and if she really is concern over Mr. Hong, then she should spend more time with him instead.
At work the next day, Ringo finds the cat camera he had placed on Rachel’s desk back on his. He’s worried she figured out it was a camera and asks his team members if they’ve seen Rachel. They tell him she had slammed the kitty sculpture on his desk angrily earlier and asked what he did to her. He makes up an excuse about work and they accept it.
Later, he takes a folder and goes to Cheuk Gwan Lam’s office where Rachel is tidying up. After leaving the report on his boss’s desk, he eyes Rachel mischievously. Then he proceeds to mess with and touch all the decorations in the office. Rachel tries her hardest to stop him.
His eyes soon land on this salt crystal lamp. Rachel goes to it before him and accidentally bumps into it, knocking it to the ground and cracking it in half. Rachel is horrified.
This was all Ringo’s fault. She blames him but of course, she’s the one who bumped into it. Rachel goes to tell Cheuk Gwan Lam what happened but Ringo stops her. He takes a picture of the broken lamp and tells her to follow him.
They go to the store and try to find one that looks similar to the rock they broke. The one Ringo points out is quite expensive, resulting in Rachel digging through her wallet for enough cash. Ringo tells her to just use her credit card and pulls one out, along with a business card for a reporter. He asks who’s doing an interview but Rachel doesn’t answer. She goes to pay.
At the warehouse, Yan Yan is super sick and zombie-like while eating her cup noodles. Ringo and Cyrus watches as she sneezes into her cup noodles and continues to eat. She even puts the rolled up tissue that fell from her nose into her mouth (gross!), mistaking it as noodles.
Turtle comes back and chides her for still eating cup noodles in her condition and forces her to eat some congee.
Ringo slowly approaches her and wants to ask her about the thing he asked her to do but she sneezes at that time, causing both Ringo and Cyrus to back away. Turtle tells him that she looked the reporter up and found out she’s going to be doing an interview with Cheuk Gwan Lam. Ringo gets to planning.
After pulling Cyrus aside, he asks where Amber is. Cyrus tells him she’s probably at some bar drinking. But he tells him Amber recently found out that Endless Beauty is working on a secret project called 797M. Not much more is said on the subject because Amber calls Cyrus at that moment. She’s drunk and needs him to pick her up.
Mani is at a school reunion party with her boyfriend Howard. Their friends ask them about marriage but Mani wants to focus on her career first. A couple of Howard’s female friends arrive and he excuses himself to go greet them and proceeds to spend the rest of the night playing with them. Mani is just off to the side watching. A couple of her friends join her and ask her if it’s okay for Howard to be so close with those women. Mani trusts Howard and is confident in herself so she doesn’t see them as a threat.
Later on as Mani is getting a drink at the bar, Amber, drunk out of her mind, accidentally bumps into her. Amber apologizes. She wobbles on her feet and bumps into another person. Amber sobers up and gets into an argument with this second woman she bumps into. Howard breaks it up and Amber stumbles away.
Then Howard goes to check on Mani and she finds out that the two are siblings who share the same father. Amber is the younger sister and daughter of the mistress. The two sisters have a bad relationship with each other.
After getting the story, Mani excuses herself to go wash up.
Cyrus arrives then and calls Amber to find out where she is.
Inside the restroom, Mani hears Amber say she’s in the restroom. She stumbles out of the stall and Mani manages to catch her and help her stand upright. Cyrus enters and grabs her to leave. Mani is just like wtf.
When she exits, Mani goes to find Howard and tells him she’s leaving first. As she’s waiting for the valet to return with her car, Mani sees Cyrus on the other side trying to catch a taxi and struggling with Amber’s drunk ass.
The car arrives and it catches Cyrus’s eyes. He dumps Amber into the backseat of Mani’s car and asks her to help him take her home. Mani tells him she doesn’t know her. Cyrus thought she did but they clear up whatever misunderstanding he has. He still insists that Mani help him take her home. Mani agrees only if he gets in the car too, otherwise she’s not taking her home. Cyrus finally agrees and gets into the car.
Whil they’re driving, Amber wakes up and clings to Cyrus. The two of them keep pulling and pushing as he tries to get her to sit properly. Amber then demands that Cyrus sing her a song. He refuses. She continues to badger him until he finally does to shut her up.
They arrive and just ask Cyrus is about to help Amber out of the car, she throws up. Cyrus apologizes for this and gives Mani his phone number. He tells her to call him with the total cost of the cleaning fees. Then Mani watches them leave.
Cyrus helps Amber up to her flat and onto the bed. He yells at her always being this deadbeat drunk. Amber’s phone starts ringing and Cyrus tries to get her to wake to answer but she just ignores him and continues sleeping. She receives a text message right after from her sister telling her to stop shaming the family name with her drunkard tendencies.
Cyrus pities her. He helps tucks her in bed before leaving.
At work the next day, Mani sees a mocking animation of her parachuting down and screaming for proposals. She gets mad and demands to know who did it but everyone denies it. The animation was put on their company website so the whole company knows all about her and her work habits now.
Later that night Mani calls Howard to meet up but he can’t. So she calls Cyrus. He asks her how much the car washing cost but she just tells him to get in the car. Once he’s in, she locks the doors and starts speeding down the roads. Cyrus is scared shitless. Mani gets more amused the more Cyrus gets scared and continues speeding through the streets.
When they finally stop, Cyrus stumbles out of the car and pukes into the grass. He screams at her, asking why she drove so fast. Mani tells him she was in a bad mood. But after seeing him like this, her mood is all better now. She then offers to drive him back to the city but Cyrus venomously declines. Mani just shrugs and happily goes on her way. After she leaves, Cyrus realizes he’s in the middle of nowhere.
The reporter set to interview Cheuk Gwan Lam arrives at the company with her photographer. He’s praising her for managing to get this interview but she tells him it’s just a show since all the questions had to be pre-approved by the secretary. As they’re heading to his office, the reporter receives a text message. She reads it and then tells her photographer to go ahead first.
The interview starts off with questions about the beauty market and Cheuk Gwan Lam’s wife. The reporter starts pushing buttons by asking about his relationship with his stepdaughter. Rachel cuts in and says that’s not part of the agreed questions but Cheuk Gwan Lam willingly answers it. He tells her that their relationship is really good and that he promised his wife that he would take good care of her.
The reporter gets braver and asks about his stepdaughter’s thoughts on his relationship with his first wife. Cheuk Gwan Lam and Rachel are stunned into silence. Rachel thinks the reporter is mistaken but the reporter clarifies that she has documents stating that Cheuk Gwan Lam was married before previously but his first wife passed away early on. She also brings up the fact that he has a son that passed away too and asks him since he’s not answering, does that mean he’s admitting to all of this.
Cheuk Gwan Lam tells them this interview cannot be published and leaves.
Rachel finds Cheuk Gwan Lam in his office later. She tells him she’s dealt with that magazine to make sure nothing from the interview will be published. She then asks him if he’s willing to tell her what’s going so she’ll know how to deal with the situation if it comes up again in the future.
Cheuk Gwan Lam drops the bomb. He confirms everything the reporter says was true. His wife died of a sickness and his son committed suicide. This is something he doesn’t want to think or talk about.
The rock light that Ringo and Rachel went to replace has a tiny camera inserted inside. Ringo is watching the conversation happening in Cheuk Gwan Lam’s office on the roof from his tablet.
Cheuk Gwan Lam continues and tells Rachel that he doesn’t want this issue to affect their company’s image and also doesn’t want to damage his relationship with Mani so he hopes she can come up with a plan to keep the reporters’ mouth shut.
As Rachel is about to leave the office, Cheuk Gwan Lam stops her and is staring straight at the salt crystal light. He tells her it looks a little different. Rachel admits to breaking the old one and getting this new one to replace it. She apologizes and Cheuk Gwan Lam lets it go.
There’s a flash back to many years ago. Cheuk Gwan Lam is packing multiple packets of cocaine into his suitcase. His wife has stomach pains from nerves because of what they’re about to do. He assures her that everything will be alright once they return to Hong Kong. Then he tells her to rest while he goes to buy medicine for her.
When Cheuk Gwan Lam returns, he sees their hotel room door wide open and his wife and son sitting on the couch. The police are searching through their stuff and find the cocaine. His son sees him and tells his father to save him. Cheuk Gwan Lam turns around and walks away.
Present day Cheuk Gwan Lam blames himself and wishes he could have died in their place.
Cheuk Gwan Lam and Ah Sang visit the grave of his first wife with flowers and her favorite food. When they arrive, he sees someone else was here before them. The food is still hot too. He runs out of there and spots the back of someone as they’re leaving.
The guy gets on a motorcycle and Cheuk Gwan Lam starts chasing after him on foot. He finally catches up and gets him to stop. He tells him he knows he’s Ringo and asks what he wants. Then he goes to take the helmet off the guy and finds out it’s just some stranger.
In the distance, Ringo is standing in the crowd watching the scene with a smirk on his face.
Yan Yan is really gross lol. I cringed so hard watching that scene. Ringo is so freaking adorable when he’s with Mr. Hong. I seriously can’t get enough of it.
