After the deaths of his first and second wife, cosmetic mogul Cheuk Gwan Lam tries to turn over a new leaf. As fate would have it, he encounters a resourceful young man known as Ringo Poon, through whom he sees a younger version of himself. Cheuk Gwan Lam develops a familial attachment towards Ringo. The young man also wins the favor of Cheuk’s secretary Rachel Chan, who believes that Ringo would lead the company, Endless Beauty, to success. Rachel, still mourning over the disappearance of her husband Vincent many years ago, drowns herself with work. Endless Beauty, as well as Cheuk Gwan Lam himself, becomes her sole purpose in life. Ringo exploits the trust Rachel has in him, also winning Cheuk Gwan Lam’s approval. Little do they know that Ringo is actually secretly conspiring with a team of talented people on the sly to steal trade secrets from large corporations for money. Ringo has been planning this for years, seeking the best opportunity to take destructive revenge on Endless Beauty.
Cheuk Gwan Lam is reminiscing of his memories with his son when he was younger. The bell ringing on a bicycle, the fingers tapping when he’s thinking, and the type of sandwich he likes – Ringo has all the same habits as his son.
At the company, someone is watching Ringo finish his meal and toss it away. After he leaves, Ah Sanag goes to the trash and takes out the coffee cup Ringo drank out of it and puts it in a plastic bag. Then he goes to the labs and tells them to do the testing immediately.
Mani shows up to work and tells her team that she’s not mad about yesterday’s incident. She tells them from now on, if they have a problem with her, it’s better to tell it to her face and she’ll try to work on it; she’s not an unreasonable person. Cheuk Gwan Lam appears and asks Ringo, Mani, and Rachel to have a meeting.
He praises Mani and Ringo for their latest promotional event’s success and asks them to come up with ideas for their next event. The two pitch their ideas and this time, Cheuk Gwan Lam prefers Ringo’s idea more. After the meeting, he asks Ringo to go somewhere with him tomorrow.
Rachel goes finds Cheuk Gwan Lam later and wants to know where the two men are going. Cheuk Gwan Lam tells her if he needs her to know, she’ll know. She then brings up Ringo’s questionable character and suggests that he might be the mole they’re looking for. Cheuk Gwan Lam sees Ringo differently and thinks Rachel is letting her dislike for the other cloud her judgement.
Cheuk Gwan Lam takes Ringo to a forest to help him look for something. He tells Ringo that he has a son. They buried a time capsule together and promised to come back and open it 20 years later. If his son was still alive, he’d be about Ringo’s age. Ringo just listens and doesn’t say anything. They continue trekking through the forest. Suddenly, Cheuk Gwan Lam slips and falls and ends up scraping his hand. Ringo grabs his arm to try to help support him.
Cheuk Gwan Lam has a flashback of this exact scenario happening with his son.
Ringo helps him up and suggests they come back another day when it isn’t raining. Cheuk Gwan Lam agrees and they turn back.
Later that night Mani comes knocking on Cheuk Gwan Lam’s home office door. She talks work to him and he reminds her that it’s their day off. Mani then notices his injury and asks what happened. Cheuk Gwan Lam avoids answering. Mani also asks where he went with Ringo but when her father doesn’t tell her, she makes an off-handed comment about Ringo being his illegitimate son with all the secrecy. Her father is spared from answering when his phone suddenly rings.
It’s Howard’s father. He’s back from a business trip and wants to grab lunch with the father and daughter pair the next day.
At lunch the next day, Luk Yat Fan (Howard’s father) asks Mani when she’s going to marry Howard. He’s anxious for grandchildren. Cheuk Gwan Lam tries to persuade the other man to back off on the marriage topic but Luk Yat Fan tells him he’d be more willing to happily work together in business if only he had a grandchild to play with.
Mani is walking around aimlessly on the streets after lunch and Cyrus runs into her. She asks him to go get ice cream with her – her treat. He feels offended that she thinks he can’t buy his own. There’s an ice-cream shop that’s doing a promotion near them and he suggests they go there. The two pretend to be a couple and take a picture for the event in order to get their ice-cream. Mani is starting to get fond of Cyrus.
After they get their ice-cream the two go sit at the park. Mani tells Cyrus a little bit about her family. Biological dad and mom split when she was young and it was thanks to her new stepdad that she was able to grow up in a nice family environment. Having her own family would be nice.
She then tells Cyrus that she’s getting married but the other could tell that she’s not happy about it. Her future father-in-law is very traditional and don’t want her to work after she gets married. He just wants her to stay at home and raise the kids. But she doesn’t want that. Her career is finally taking off and it would be a shame to let it die now. She hopes to live a life like her mother – have a good career and a warm family. After she’s done talking, she thanks Cyrus for listening and offers to drive him back but of course he declines and she teases him.
Ringo is discussing with his team the relationship between Luk Yat Fan and Cheuk Gwan Lam and their companies. Cheuk Gwan Lam needs Luk Yat Fan’s help if he wants his company to go public (enter the stock market). Meanwhile Luk Yat Fan wants to retire and hand the company to his son. Unfortunately his son is known to be a playboy. By getting Howard and Mani to get married, it will improve Luk Yat Fan’s company’s image. When it comes down to it, this is just a business marriage.
Cyrus is tasked with the job of getting close to Mani to prevent the marriage from happening.
Cheuk Gwan Lam calls for an emergency meeting. They’re short on stock and the next shipping of goods is being delayed. There are no ideas on how to fix this.
Luk Yat Fan approaches Cheuk Gwan Lam and tells him he heard about their shortage of products. He asks him why he invited him to play golf instead of solving this dilemma. Cheuk Gwan Lam is honest and asks Luk Yat Fan for help. They sent him a shipment of products to try a while ago; he’s asking if it would be possible to get it back to fix their shortage problem. Luk Yat Fan doesn’t mind helping but he brings up the topic of marriage again. He wants nothing more than to see his son get married and have a grandchild to play with. He asks Cheuk Gwan Lam if he could help with that.
Mani appears on the golf course and tells Luk Yat Fan that she’s thought about it and agrees to the marriage proposal. She then turns to her father and tells him she’s a big girl and she can make her own decisions. Luk Yat Fat is very happy and decides for the wedding to be held next month. Then he turns to Cheuk Gwan Lam and tells him since they’ll be in-laws soon, he’ll help him out with all his problems. He’ll have someone send the shipment of goods to him as soon as possible. Cheuk Gwan Lam thanks him.
Howard tells Mani to meet him in front of the ferris wheel. There, he proposes to her. She accepts. They hug.
Mani arrives at work and everyone congratulates her. Rachel offers to help Mani with her wedding planning since the other has no clue what to do.
Rachel, Mani, and Howard are super busy the next couple of days doing wedding stuff from flowers to the banquet menu. While Rachel and Mani maintain their level of excitement, Howard shows more and more disinterest in the whole process. He shows up late to the wedding outfit fittings and tells Mani that his father asked for her to get a full body check-up before the wedding since her mother passed away due to bad health. Mani agrees.
After leaving the wedding shop, Rachel explodes and rants about Howard being inconsiderate towards Mani’s mother. If anyone needs to get a body check, it should be him since he’s always hanging out with female celebrities and going into hotels with them. Realizing what she said, Rachel apologizes to Mani. Mani just brushes it off. She’s used to hearing those rumors. It doesn’t affect her anymore. She understands the concern but Rachel still thinks this isn’t right.
Mani changes the subject and asks Rachel about marriage life. Rachel tells her it’s about compatibility and filling in for each other’s weaknesses. Mani can see that Rachel had a very happy life with Vincent and is sorry for bringing up painful memories.
Rachel tells Mani that she just doesn’t see any compatibility between her and Howard. She doesn’t think Mani will have a happy marriage and urges her to think things over carefully.
Cheuk Gwan Lam has the paternity report in his hands and it says there’s no relationship between him and Ringo. He can’t believe it. Ah Sang says he tried to get in contact with Cheuk Gwan Lam’s uncle in Thailand but he passed away a few years ago so they have no information on what happened to Cheuk Gwan Lam’s son. Cheuk Gwan Lam asks him to check something for him in America, then shreds the report.
There’s a flashback to Cheuk Gwan Lam arguing with his first wife. She’s pissed at him because she thought he brought their family to Thailand for a vacation but it’s actually so they would help him smuggle drugs back to Hong Kong. Cheuk Gwan Lam begs her to help him this time. If they can get through this, he’ll have enough money so that his company won’t go bankrupt and they can turn their lives around. His wife agrees.
At that moment his son wakes up and asks his father to sleep with him. He tells his father that he had a nightmare that his father didn’t want him and his mother anymore. Cheuk Gwan Lam comforts his son and tells him that would never happen.
Ringo is sitting at home with the shredded paternity test pieced back together. There’s no way he would let his real identity be revealed so easily.
He saw Ah Sang take his coffee cup and made a phone call. At the medical lab, after Ah Sang dropped off the samples, Turtle and Amber came in disguised and caused a commotion. The nurse left her desk to placate the couple. Cyrus came from the back, dressed as a doctor and exchanged the cups.
Ringo is sitting in front of his mother’s memorial tablet and talking about how Cheuk Gwan Lam wants to get rid of their existences with his mother (ghost? or a figure of his imagination). His mother is trying to convince him that his father isn’t as bad as he thinks he is and still cares for him. He probably has his reasons for what he did. But Ringo gets mad and refuses to listen. If Cheuk Gwan Lam didn’t want to hide them, then why doesn’t her memorial tablet have a name or picture? He’s determined to make Cheuk Gwan Lam take responsibility for everything that he’s done.
