After the deaths of his first and second wife, cosmetic mogul Cheuk Gwan Lam tries to turn over a new leaf. As fate would have it, he encounters a resourceful young man known as Ringo Poon, through whom he sees a younger version of himself. Cheuk Gwan Lam develops a familial attachment towards Ringo. The young man also wins the favor of Cheuk’s secretary Rachel Chan, who believes that Ringo would lead the company, Endless Beauty, to success. Rachel, still mourning over the disappearance of her husband Vincent many years ago, drowns herself with work. Endless Beauty, as well as Cheuk Gwan Lam himself, becomes her sole purpose in life. Ringo exploits the trust Rachel has in him, also winning Cheuk Gwan Lam’s approval. Little do they know that Ringo is actually secretly conspiring with a team of talented people on the sly to steal trade secrets from large corporations for money. Ringo has been planning this for years, seeking the best opportunity to take destructive revenge on Endless Beauty.
Cheuk Gwan Lam asks why Ringo has his phone. Ringo explains he heard it ring and was being nosy. He blames it on his American upbringing. Then he goes to give it back to Cheuk Gwan Lam. He asks him why he’s pretending to be Martin and lying to Rachel.
Cheuk Gwan Lam says it’s his way of comforting Rachel and helping her move on from Vincent. Ringo warns him not to lie for too long since Rachel is pretty sensitive.
Rachel returns from the party and receives a message from Martin. He tells her he’s decided to go to America to get treated so they won’t be able to communicate anymore. This is their farewell. She wishes him well.
After Cheuk Gwan Lam’s acupuncture session he walks around. He’s afraid Ringo will find out Martin’s phone is actually Vincent’s. He dumps the phone into the trash. Then he has Ah Sang find out if Chin Wing Tong’s got any more schemes cooking. He’s determined help Mani kick all these guys to the curb before he dies.
Endless Beauty’s stock has gone below the agreed price for the loan. They’re demanding Cheuk Gwan Lam to sell 797M’s patent to pay back the money now. He refuses.
After the meeting, he gets dizzy and falls to the ground at the company entrance. Ah Sang sees him and helps him. They go to find the professor doctor. He’s introduced to someone who’s developing a new treatment for brain tumors. Cheuk Gwan Lam wants to personally test it out. The guy agrees but only gives him three doses to be used in absolute emergency.
That night, Cheuk Gwan Lam is on the phone with Rachel about finding a new CEO. He tells her they need to be quick about it. After the call, he paces around his room and is suddenly hit with a painful headache. He falls to the ground and crawls over to his bed. He takes the new medicine he was given and injects it into his thigh. Then he crawls onto the bed and passes out until the next morning.
During the board meeting, he blames everyone on the CEO TC and asks him to resign. Then he nominates Ringo to fill the spot as CEO temporarily. No one agrees as Ringo is still relatively new.
One of them brings up the fact that as Chairman, Cheuk Gwan Lam should take some responsibility. They ask for him to step down. Cheuk Gwan Lam agrees to it since that’s what they want.
Lok Yat Fan is nominated to be their Chairman but he rejects the offer on the account of being old. Instead he nominates Mani to be the Chairman. Chin Wing Tong rejects the idea but it’s not within his power so he has no say in the decision. So Mani officially becomes the Chairman.
Chin Wing Tong confronts him about it later. Lok Yat Fan reveals he knows what the other did before the warehouse was closed and tells him he refuses to be played like this. This is the end of their partnership.
Ringo is a little off put by the CEO position but he has no choice but to accept it. Mani has no confidence in herself but she’ll have Rachel and Ringo to help her out. On his way out, Ringo overheads Cheuk Gwan Lam telling Rachel to book a restaurant for them to have dinner with Lok Yat Fan and his son.
Chin Wing Tong is taking out his anger on his right-hand man. He also yells at Chloe, who he placed in Endless Beauty as a spy. She’s pretty much useless to him and he goes to strike her but is intercepted by his secretary. He continues to yell at the two of them and hits him.
Cyrus goes to visit his father’s grave. He tells his father all about Amber. Ringo appears too. Cyrus thanks him for coming with him every year to see his father.
Cheuk Gwan Lam gave 5% company stocks to Lok Yat Fan for helping him put Mani in the Chairman position.
Ringo had installed a listening device in the room. He and Cyrus are listening to everything they’re saying.
Mani clarifies with Lok Yat Fan that she and Howard have already broken up. All she wants to do is focus on work. Howard comforts his father and tells him to just give the two of them more time.
After the meal, Mani asks how come Lok Yat Fan is willing to help them now when she thought he was working with Chin Wing Tong. This was actually Cheuk Gwan Lam’s doing. He had Ah Sang give some money to the lady to tell Lok Yat Fan some intel to tear apart their partnership. Then he went to look for Lok Yat Fan. He agrees to give up his Chairman position but the new Chairman has to be Mani. They’re doing all this for the sake of Mani and Howard’s future. Lok Yat Fan finally agrees.
Mani is impressed by her father’s schemes.
Back at the warehouse, Cyrus and Ringo figure out they need to acquire the 30% stocks out on the market in order to take control of the company. It’s going to take a lot of money in a short amount of time.
Chin Wing Tong calls Ringo out to eat. He’s back to sticking with Ringo after being backstabbed by Lok Yat Fan. Ringo tells him from now on, Chin Wing Tong just needs to be good and listen to what he tells him to do. Chin Wing Tong agrees.
Amber congratulates Ringo for being promoted to CEO. Still, he doesn’t have much power in the company. Amber receives a text from her sister to meet up for dinner. Cyrus walks her out. Turtle then asks Ringo when they’re going to get paid.
Since Turtle needs money, he can give him a bit first. Yan Yan says he doesn’t need just a little. It’s concerning someone’s life. Turtle tries to cover it up, saying he’s the type to get antsy about not receiving the money. Ringo says he’ll think about it.
When Cyrus returns, he asks him to look into why Turtle needs so much money all of a sudden.
Ringo goes to see his lawyer Ken to liquidate his investments.
Ringo is over at Rachel’s house at night, playing with stars in Mr. Hong’s room. After Rachel finishes up in the kitchen she goes to Mr. Hong’s room. She stands on the other side of the door and hears him asking Ringo if he ever misses someone. The adults find out Mr. Hong has a crush on a older girl. Ringo then tells Mr. Hong about his crush on an older girl too when he was younger. Mr. Hong asks if he still likes her and Ringo tells him he still does.
Rachel hears all this and is upset and walks away.
Then Mr. Hong asks if Ringo can help him find a star that looks like his father. He takes out a photo album for Ringo to go through. Ringo flips through it and comes across a drawing of fishes Mr. Hong drew when he was 3.
Ringo remembers seeing it on the background of ‘Martin’s’ phone. The next day he tracks down the GPS location of the phone and goes looking for it.
He finds it at the landfill and brings it back for Yan Yan to restore all the data from it. He suspects this is Vincent’s phone.
Turtle gets a message from the dude at the hospital. The treatment was a successful for his wife and he reminds him that there’s only one spot left so he should make a decision quickly.
Turtle asks Ringo for the money again. Ringo tells him he knows it’s for his brother but this situation seems kind of fishy. Turtle doesn’t care. He just wants his brother to get better. Ringo tells him he needs more time since it’s a lot of money that he doesn’t have.
Yan Yan suddenly gets an email and finds out that Ringo does have the money but he used it to buy Endless Beauty’s stocks. Turtle gets really angry about it. Since Ringo is being so selfish, he’s quitting this group. Yan Yan leaves with him too. Cyrus goes after them but it’s useless.
Rachel goes to see Laura and tells Laura about overhearing Mr. Hong and Ringo’s conversation about the other man’s crush. Laura thinks it’s her own fault since Ringo’s been trying to get with her but she won’t snatch him up.
Later that night, Rachel makes curry fish balls for Ringo to eat. He tells her it’s his favorite thing. Then she tells him a story of when she was younger. She would go to the curry fish ball stall and buy it from this older guy and he would also give her extra. Then she asks him if he’s ever had a crush like that. Ringo thinks she’s asking some strange questions today.
Then he notices that her digital picture frame isn’t working. He takes it and offers to fix it for her before excusing himself and returning to his own flat.
Cheuk Gwan Lam and Mani go take a walk. They see a show being put on by Chin Wing Tong’s company to advertise his new product. Cheuk Gwan Lam calls him out for only allowing the photographers to photograph his models and not letting other people come try the product.
After the event, Chin Wing Tong gets really pissed. He sees Cheuk Gwan Lam and Mani nearby waiting for Ah Sang to pick them up. He and his secretary get into their car. Chin Wing Tong leans over and takes control of the wheel and also makes his secretary press down on the gas pedal. The secretary is freaking out but Chin Wing Tong only has his eyes on running over Cheuk Gwan Lam.
Cheuk Gwan Lam turns and sees the car coming. His vision suddenly turns black and white.
I find it incredibly unrealistic that Ringo was able to find Vincent’s phone again. Not only was he able to locate it when it was turned off, but he basically found the needle in the haystack when he found it in the landfill. That’s a little ridiculous lol. But then again, what kind of TVB drama would this be without the unrealistic shit going on~
