Went to see this in theaters a week or two after it was released in the states. The trailer made the movie look really amazing and suspenseful but in reality, the movie was really slow and at times confusing. I think I even fell asleep at times because it was kind of boring lol.
The concept of being able to remove/restore the human memory and emotions sounded really cool. That process was explained well in the movie. So what happened was when the main character Jiang Feng went to remove his memories of his marriage with his wife, that day there was an altercation at the memory center and he swapped the key to his memories with someone else – a murdered.
To get his wife to sign the divorce papers, Jiang Feng has to return to the memory center and restore his memories. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until after the fact that he realized that something was wrong and that the memories restored were not his – it is that of a murderer. That means the murderer now has his memories of his wife which means that she’s in danger. Jiang Feng has to work quickly (while imprisoned), combing through the memories, trying to figure out who the murderer is in order to save his wife.
The parts that got me confused with this movie was when they think they’ve figured out who the murderer might be and the memories are flashing through from the suspect’s point of view. Because they went through a few people before finally figuring out who the murderer was, it got really confusing and gave me a headache.
The ending was kind of cheesy and sucked lol. Very anticlimactic. Meh. The concept was good and the movie was alright. I’d give it a 6/10? Not something I would pay for to watch in theaters haha
